The Quay

[The Doctor Prescribes: THURSDAY, $5 Appetizers! $5 Martinis (that's deal-a-rific)]

Without fail, there is always a pretty, brunette taking reservations at the Quay front desk. My friend was convinced that she was the most beautiful thing on the planet.  She was gorgeous.

He decided to tell her that and proceeded to give her  my number. What a guy. You may think this story is lame and has no relevance. You’re right. But for kids who watch Weeds and blog all the time, it was a big deal– we did it. We tried to flatter a girl; we climbed Mt. Eve(b)rest.

I will probably end up redoing this post. But for those lucky ones, you got a little glimpse into my struggling love life. Now here are some deals ya filthy animal.

DEALS:

Happy Hour, 4-7:00PM, Monday-Friday, $3Drafts, $3 Well Drinks (most are $4 around here. nice)

Wednesday: Do KARAOKE! on the river

Thursday: Do Shots with the Jazz Lobsters! Truthfully, enjoy some great jazz with your $19.95 entree and dessert combo. $5 Appetizers! $5 Martinis (that’s deal-a-rific)

Friday, Saturday, Sunday– Not so much a pure deal, but a nice find. Tune up your ears for Barbara Rose and her sultry voice. Jazz standards never sounded so smooth.

The hostess never called me. But seriously, if anyone’s interested, I’m a good time.

The Mad Hatter

This place is like the Wonderland of deals–young, fun, a little zany, and full of riddles. Like, who is that guy who is always having more fun than anyone else on Tuesday Karaoke nights? It is inspiring.

Basically, The Hatter is the summer place to be. With a backdoor bar, main, indoor bar, and a family dining room to the side–the Mad Hatter accommodates all. Find your deals, find your friends, and find all the other local bartenders taking a reprieve from their hard night’s work. In today’s economy, taking a break at The Hatter keeps us all from going a little mad.

DEALS:

Monday: $1 off Margaritas, Corona, Corona Light, Sol, 3 Beef Tacos, $6.95

Tuesday: KARAOKE! Buy one large pizza ($12 for large plain), get the second 1/2 off.

Wednesday: Buy one burger($8 for cheese), get the second 1/2 off

Thursday: Buy one entree ($14-30), get the second 1/2 off, Guinness Pints $5 All Day long.

I think there are more deals. I’ll return. Anyone know for sure? Anyone have any silly stories from the Hatter?

Ocean Avenue Grill

Another staple by the sea, the Ocean Avenue Grill has a new chef and a new event on Tuesdays — a Magician. And his name is Kurt. Honestly, where can you find a magician anywhere around here? Especially the kind who can bust aces out of his torso or pull a beer out of his hat.  I was so excited by the prospect of a Magician, I almost forgot about the deals. Let me conjure some up for you now.

DEALS:

Happy Hour, Monday- Friday, 4-9:00PM

$1.75 Draft Mugs, Miller Light, Coors Light, YUENGLING !

$4 House wines by glass

$4 Well Drinks (bottom shelf liquor. didn’t know that phrase until a few days ago)

TUESDAY: Kurt The MAGICIAN!!! 6-9:00PM  Bring the kids! Don’t bring the kids! Whatever! Come for the magic! Kids 12 and under eat for free. Limit, 2 kids per 1 adult. Big families need not apply.

Wednesday-Friday: FREE BUFFET  5-6:00PM, at the bar only

The Dockside

Ross! Where’d you go?

Apparently, he has sailed off to find warmer waters, leaving his dock behind. It seems that he took his deals with him too.

Still Uncle Ross’s essence for riverside fun and good food  remains. At The Dockside, it’s a simple equation, “dock, dine, drink, and dance.” Rinse and repeat. Just don’t drive your boat home drunk. Dance home drunk.
