Basil T’s

Numbered mugs line the bar (anyone know why?) and a sweet smell of an Italian grandmother’s kitchen fills the dining room. Basil T’s is an interesting mut — part brewery, part Italian restaurant. Since I am part German, part Italian, I fit in just fine.

Regardless of your ethnicity, Basil T’s does not discriminate.  So bring your Chinese friend, treat him to a home brew and some antipasto.

Happy Hour, 4-5:30PM, Monday- Friday, $1 off drinks, beer and wine

Mini buffet to boot

Via 45

Trust in Claudette, head chef at Via 45.
“Can you make bolognese,” I ask.
“If the sauce is on, I can make it,” she responds assuredly. If it’s not, then let her take you on her culinary quest, offering whatever she might have on the menu that night. As an American, I’m used to picking my favorite from countless choices, not just the best of what’s available. So letting chef tell me what to eat is a bit unsettling. But then again, she’s the pro and I’m the burger bro.

Seeing the lack of deals, I was also a bit concerned.  “Not even a price fix or something? I’ve heard a lot about those lately,” I inquire.

“We can do that.”

I think I can get used to this flexibility.

I should probably eat there. Take grandma. You should too. Cheers
